12-Year-Old Female Baseball Player Wears Kinetic Arm
Kinetic Arm Sighting: 12-Year-Old Gianna Peer Shining on the Diamond
Twelve-year-old Gianna Peer is standing out on the baseball diamond in Livonia, Michigan — and not just because she's one of the few girls on the field. As WXYZ-TV Detroit reported in June 2024, Peer is holding her own against the boys with a .521 batting average, a 265-foot home run, and a fastball clocked at 72 mph.
"My favorite part of baseball is hitting the ball," Peer told WXYZ. Asked how her mostly-male teammates treat her, she said: "They treat me like I'm actually part of something in this world. They're always there for me, even when I strike out."
A Comeback Built on Hard Work
Part of what makes Peer's story stand out is the road that got her there. She was diagnosed with slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE), a hip condition, after her family noticed she was struggling to run without complaining about the pain. She had surgery in Ann Arbor and went through a lengthy recovery — one that ultimately left her stronger, faster, and throwing harder than before. "It was amazing, the recovery took long but I am so thankful it happened," Peer told WXYZ.
That recovery and the strength gains that came with it are the result of Peer's own surgery, rehabilitation, and training — not something Kinetic Arm played any role in. We're highlighting her story here because it's a genuinely inspiring look at what young athletes can accomplish, and because Gianna is one of the young players who now wears the Kinetic Arm as part of her current training and games.
Why We're Sharing Her Story
At Kinetic Arm, spotlighting young athletes like Gianna is part of why we do this work. Her story is a reminder of what's possible when a young athlete puts in the work to come back from a setback and keeps pushing to improve. Seeing her compete — and seeing her wear the K2 BioKinetic® Youth Sleeve while she does it — is exactly the kind of thing we hope for when we build products for developing athletes.
The K2 BioKinetic® Youth Sleeve is a dynamic dual-joint arm stabilizer built on patented MuscleWeb® technology — a system of strategically placed elastic polymers that activate dynamically during movement to provide directional support to both the shoulder and elbow. It's designed to help reduce dynamic arm stress during the repetitive throwing and swinging motions young players like Gianna perform every practice and game, without restricting the range of motion they need to pitch, hit, and field.
